Here is a wonderfully folky and difficult to find, David Perkins Wall Plaque in the
form of a spawning Sockeye salmon. David David Perkins fish decoys are highly
collectible and have been featured in several collector's reference books. They are
also included in the collection of the Museum Of American Folk Art in New York
City. There is also a new, high quality, hardcover book out on David's decoys
which is available in the Reference Book section of this catalog. This large Salmon
Plaque measures over 24" long. The gills are deeply carved and the eye is glass.
This wall plaque has a wonderfully folky form and great personality. It is hand madd
and hand painted in spawning colors. The condition is beautiful and original. Like
all of David's decoys, this half body plaque has a special patina which simulates
age and wear. It is signed by the carver with his stamped DFD (Duluth Fish
Decoys) mark on the back side and is guaranteed to be in original condition and
authentic.
