Lloyd Wachter is a well documented carver of larger Sturgeon spearing decoys
that lived in calumetville, Wisconsin. His decoys are featured in the books THE
FISH DECOY Volumes 2 and 3. They are increasingly difficult to come by and still
priced affordably. Old Sturgeon spearing decous are highly collectible and having
an example by a known carver is very unusual given that most were made by
individuals for their own use and never documented. This example measures 13
1/2" long and has carved gills. The decoy is painted in a nicely patinated white
with red accent painting on the gills. It is in beautiful, original condition with just
the right amout of light wear and some normal paint loss to the metal fins.
