Here is a nice Jim Nelson Trout in a slightly smaller size than is normally seen.
the length is 6 1/4""and the decoy has carved gills, a carved mouth and carved
tail fin rays. It is in excellent, unfished condition. Jim Nelson is widely regarded
as the finest and most widely recognized folk art style carvers currently
working in Michigan. He has been active since at leat the 1940s. His decoys are
well documented and widely collected. This example appears to be a cross
between a brook Trout and a Brown trout. Something a little unusual.
