Here is a wonderful piece of Michigan folk art from the 1950s. Its carver Don
Nuerminger lived in Bay City and speared Mullet lake. He carved only 24 decoys
between 1956 and 1958 for his own use. he quit carving and spearing in 1958.
The fins on the belly are finely cast in lead and attached with small screws. A very
unique design for a working decoy. The decoy measures 7" long and is painted
white with with a generous sprinkling of glitter and painted tack tacks. This decoy
is in beautiful, original condition with light wear and excellent patina.
