Fish decoys by Lawrence Bethel (deceased) are featured in several collectors
reference books and are becoming increasingly collectible as his talent is
appreciated over time. This unusually large Whitefish measures just under 13" in
length. It is in excellent, original and unfished condition and is painted realistically
with a wonderful folky flair. The decoy is marked with the maker's incised B stamp
as well as being hand signed on the belly. The hand signed decoys are especially
collectible. The gills and mouth are nicely carved and the decoy has excellent
visual appeal.
