Lawrence Bethel's fish decoys are featured in several collectors reference books
and have become increasingly collectible since this prolific carver passed away in
2006. This highly unusual Bethel Sunfish is painted in his standard Brook Trout
paint pattern and measures 5 1/4" long. It is one of a very small group of decoys
Lawrence made with unusual paint patterns on his Sunfish form. There
were only three sets made for special collectors and they were never marketed to
the general public. It is in beautiful, original and unfished condition. The decoy is
marked with the maker's B stamp in the belly as well as being hand signed and
dated 2001.
