Frank Mizera is one of the top names in collectibility and value when it
comes to old time Minnesota carvers. His decoys are highly collectible and
his cheater jigs are also of great interest to collectors. This red and white cheater
jig would have been used to jig for Lake Trout, as a cheater decoy or a pure
spearing decoy with the hooks removed. It measures 2 3/4" long and is in
beautiful, original condition. When this type of decoy became illegal, the hooks
were generally removed and discarded. Finding an old cheater with its original
hooks is very unusual and this element of originality adds collectibility and value.
