Fish decoys my old time Minnesota carver Pearl Bethel are highly collectible and
very difficult to come by. The decoys with a jointed body are even rarer. This
example measures 8" long and has two joints. They are not mechanical joints like
this carver is known to use. The joint is actually made with old red, rubber from an
inner tube. There are only a few of these known to exist. The condition is beautiful
and original with very light wear and a few spots of missing paint. The rubber is a
bit weak and fragile as you would expect. This decoy is beautifully painted in a
combination of black, silver and white with red, white and black accents. It is the
actual decoy pictured in the book FISH AND FOWL DECOYS OF THE GREAT
LAKES on page 252. This book is also available for purchase in the reference
