CAST COPPER SUNFISH 1930s (CLICK HERE)

This wonderfully fokly and early Minnesota sunfish was cast in solid copper or
possibly bronze. The fins are made from heavy sheet copper that was inserted
into the hot metal at the time of casting. It represents an incredible item of folk art
which has to be one of a kind. The length is 5" and the eyes are glass. The decoy
is accent painted with red at the gill lines and orange and black on the body. It is
in beautiful, original condition with outstanding patina. This is the actual decoy
that is pictured in the reference books TOP OF THE LINE FISHING
COLLECTIBLES on page 45 as well as FISH AND FOWL DECOYS OF THE
GREAT LAKES on pages 253 and 274. It represents an excellent piece of
Minnesota's
fishing history with important significance to the collector.
